One major struggle small businesses face is creating a cohesive brand that helps ideal clients identify who they are.
Your goal as a small business is to get people to stop scrolling by catching their attention and drawing them to your unique identity.
Building a brand does exactly that. It helps you to make your business feel different from other competitors. When they feel something, they are likely to remember you.
I compare branding to snow cones. The branding is like the flavor of your snow cone. Your unique taste will leave an impression making clients want to come back for more.
And let’s be honest, who orders a snow cone with no flavor…? The Karens of the world. That’s who. So let’s make sure we always add flavor so we attract the right clients ok?
Here are my 5 Steps to Build and Solidify Your Personal Brand to Stand Out.
If your business had a fashion style, what would the colors be? What would the details be? How would it make people feel? What accessories would go with it?
When you style your business you want it to be a representation of you.
Choose colors, fonts and aesthetics that will capture your unique personality and all the good that comes with it.
Once you figure out your style, you need to keep it consistent. Every single piece of content you create needs to be within your brand. It will be easy to mistake you for someone else if you don’t have your special twist of style on your post and videos.
Building a solid brand requires you to show up regularly so they can SEE you. People are pretty much zombies. You need to wake them up and grab their attention. You have a higher chance of doing that by regularly posting on social media with your stylized brand.
Consistency also allows you to build relationships and make connections.
Keep consistency in all you do to build a platform for your business.
You want to show up on social media in a way that matches your unique brand. If your branding is personal and interactive, show up in videos with your face and speak to your audience.
You need to think about who your ideal audience is and where they are. Not all businesses should be on every platform. You should pick the platforms that support your brand and the likelihood of engagement.
Maybe your business and branding will show well on Instagram and not TikTok. Maybe your business would do well on LinkedIn instead of Facebook.
Test and try different platforms and pay attention to your analytics. Let the data decide for you how you should show up.
Just like your personality, people remember you for specific characteristics. We should remember your business for something unique. What is that thing? What can you do to provide entertainment or value? There’s no right or wrong here. Over time, you’ll be able to figure out what different thing you can do that people really enjoy.
The best way to show people you know what you’re talking about or that your product is the best is to display or give value. They should learn from you or become transformed because of you or your product. Share that with them. Teach them how they can change or help them grow.
It is an art creating the right look and strategy that will develop a strong and unique brand.
